Solvers are powerful, no doubt. But most players waste insane amounts of time in them — not because the tool is bad, but because they’re using it wrong.
Let’s break down the most common mistakes and how to fix them.
❌Mistake #1: Studying everything in a vacuum
You dive into a random spot and try to memorize every combo and node.
The fix: Study with purpose. Pick one leak or situation you’re trying to fix (e.g. BTN vs BB 3bp) and go deep. Not wide.
❌Mistake #2: Copying GTO blindly
You’re trying to mimic a robot — and it’s making your game robotic too.
The fix: Think like an exploitative human. Understand what the solver recommends, but always ask: “Would this work against the pool?”
❌Mistake #3: No retention system
You study for hours, close the tab, and 48 hours later… forget it all.
The fix: Take notes. Talk it through with a coach. Your study isn’t complete until you can teach it.
❌Mistake #4: Avoiding solver work entirely
On the flip side, some players give up on solvers entirely and wing it based on vibes.
The fix: Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Solvers are gold — when used with structure and support.
